An automatic irrigation system is one of the most practical investments in the long-term health of a lawn or landscape. Manual watering is inconsistent in both volume and coverage, typically producing overwatered areas near the hose and underwatered zones beyond reach. Smith LawnCare designs and installs professional sprinkler systems for residential and commercial properties throughout Shelter Island Heights, NY.
About Our Sprinkler Installation Services in Shelter Island Heights, NY
Every irrigation system we install is designed from scratch for the specific property it will serve. We survey the property to determine the area requiring coverage, map existing planting zones with different water requirements, locate utility lines and existing underground infrastructure, assess water supply pressure and flow rate at the point of connection, and document any drainage or slope conditions that affect distribution efficiency throughout the property.
Zone design is the foundational element of an effective irrigation system. Different areas of a property have fundamentally different water requirements. Turf areas need different application rates than shrub beds. Shaded areas require less water than full-sun exposures. Slopes require lower application rates to allow absorption without runoff. Grouping irrigation heads by plant water requirement, sun exposure, and slope allows each zone to be managed independently, which is the only way to apply the right amount of water to each area.
Head selection and spacing within each zone determines the uniformity of water distribution. Rotary heads, fixed spray heads, drip emitters, and bubbler heads each have appropriate applications and are not interchangeable without compromising coverage. We select the correct type for each application and space them to achieve the designed overlap pattern that produces uniform coverage across the full zone area without leaving dry patches or waterlogging any portion.
